About Jono
Although this website isn’t centered on me, Jono, it’s essential to give some context about my background and experiences that influence some posts rooted in personal insights.
I grew up in a traditional home with a loving family in small rural towns. As the youngest of three boys, I’m told I often got my own way, though I might argue otherwise. Like every family, we had our challenges and were raised with common parenting practices/rules, typical of 80s and 90s Australia.
I was always the “big kid,” to put it politely, and had my share of being bullied for it. When high school came around, I found some confidence and developed an interest in work, particularly in Business and IT. This passion laid the foundation for my future as I soon started my own small IT business, which I’ve been running for over 15 years now.
Anyone will tell you, life is a rollercoaster, filled with challenges and successes both professionally and personally. I’ve had my fair share of suffering as well as made mistakes—some worse than others—and while I regret the pain those mistakes caused others; I don’t regret the growth they’ve spurred in me. I aim to see the positives in every situation and learn from them whenever possible. Similarly, I tend to see the positives in others, attempting to understand their intentions and motives, and withhold judgement.
Running a small business means wearing many hats, especially when you have staff. Over time, I developed a deep-seated interest in psychology. I’ve delved into personal development, not only for self-discovery but also to coach others. The insights from my personal and professional life, along with the knowledge I’ve gathered, come through in the content on this site.
The Purpose of ‘The Point of Power’
To inspire and empower just one person! TPOP has been an idea brewing for a long time, with one caveat—I don’t want this to become a “chore.” I want it to remain a creative outlet that serves a (hopefully) valuable purpose: guiding others toward a better self.
The Meaning of ‘The Point of Power’
There are two parts to this. First, “the point of power” refers to the present moment, where we hold the most power to take action. I’ll explore this more in the Coaching series. Second, it’s inspired by a movie quote that struck me: “I believe that true focus lies somewhere between rage and serenity” — Charles Xavier, X-Men: First Class (2011).
Fully exploring and understanding oneself, leading to decisive action, is an incredible power—yet many don’t experience it. But everyone should be encouraged to!
Content & AI
Finally, it’s important to mention that AI is used to create some of the content on this site. However, each post is carefully personalized and edited before publication. While it’s technically possible to build this site with basic AI prompts alone, you’d quickly notice it lacks the weight that a human touch provides.
My Process: I first shared my core values, background, experiences, and education with AI to create a “persona” for writing these posts. For each piece, I provide a specific prompt that includes relevant experiences, anecdotes, and perspectives that I want conveyed on the topic. The generated content is then revised to feel more like “me.”
