Your journey to success begins here, in the present moment. Before we get started, we must first anchor ourselves in the here and now.
Clear the Space
Life is noisy. From daily responsibilities to the constant chatter in our minds, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Let’s begin by creating a mental clearing. Take a moment to speak your mind—whether that’s writing your thoughts down or simply saying them aloud. What’s on your mind right now? Give yourself permission to let it all out.
This step isn’t about fixing anything; it’s about becoming present. Only by clearing the mental clutter can we truly focus on what’s ahead.
Expectations of Coaching
Pause and reflect on why you’ve chosen to engage in coaching. What are your expectations? Write them down or consider them deeply. Are these expectations aligned with your personal goals and purpose, or are they rooted in the desires of others?
Understanding your “why” is crucial. Success that serves someone else’s dream rarely feels fulfilling. Let this journey be for you, by you.
Your Success Map
It’s time to take stock of your life as it stands. Grab a piece of paper and draw a circle, dividing it into six equal parts: Health, Emotions, Finances, Relationships, Spirituality, and Business/Career shown below.
On each line, rate where you stand right now on a scale from 0 (centre of circle) to 10 (outer circle). Connect the dots and shade the area to create your individual map.
Be honest with yourself—this is not about judgment, but awareness.
This map represents where you are in this moment. Over the course of this coaching series, we’ll revisit your map and celebrate the growth that comes with intentional action.
The 7-Year Plan
Imagine your life seven years from now. Suspend any doubts or limitations for a moment and think like a child—dreaming as though anything is possible. We want to create a compelling, inspiring target to aim for.
What do you want to have?
What do you want to be doing?
Where do you want to be?
Who do you want to have in your life?
Visualize your target with as much clarity as possible. Think of this process like preparing to shoot an arrow. Knowing the distance to your target determines how much effort to put in and where to aim. The more compelling your target, the more energy you’ll have to pursue it.
The Circle of Success
Success is a cycle with each part feeding the next. Consider the following aspects as you move through areas of your life and understand what influences each component.
- Goals – The milestones you set for yourself. Both short-term and long-term goals are important to self-development.
Session 3 of this Series explores Goal Setting - Purpose – Your reason for it all. What you were put on this earth for…to experience, to learn/share/do. Understand that this isn’t necessarily some grand gesture to the world like solving world hunger. Your purpose is yours alone…it’s what feeds your soul.
Session 2 of this Series explores Purpose & Values - Environment – The spaces and people around you. The media you consume (movies, TV, news, social media, books & magazines). What we consume and those we spend time with often shape our beliefs.
Session 4 of this Series explores Environment. - Beliefs – The thoughts and convictions you hold. Consider what beliefs were instilled in you by your parents during your upbringing. Whether you admit it or not, what has hours of comparing yourself to others on social media caused you to believe about yourself? And conversely, what has self-reflection and growth through consuming positive media or experiencing personal development allowed you to believe or helped challenge non-serving beliefs? What we believe about ourselves, others and the world dictate the actions we take.
- Actions – The steps you take daily. We make our bed and clean our rooms because we believe we feel clearer in the mind for having done so. We exercise because we believe we’ll be healthier (remember, this is a circle, so we already know the results of this and continue doing so). We work hard (at a job and in the home) to provide for our families because that’s likely what we were raised to believe is the right thing to do.
- Results – The outcomes of those actions. Whether or not it’s the results we wanted is the key question here. Remember, our results are an accumulation of everything preceding it – our environment, beliefs and actions! If the results are not desired, consider what was missing or off purpose throughout. Importantly, achievements, big and small, should be celebrated.
Personally, I believe in fate, at least to some degree. While I may do everything I can possibly think of and action towards a specific goal, sometimes it still doesn’t come to fruition. Rather than feel defeated or angry at the world, I choose to believe it wasn’t meant for me at this time or in this form. That the universe knows something I don’t. That I’ll either shown a different way or an opportunity present at the right time.
As you move through this series, recognize how each part influences the others. By adjusting even one component, you can create ripple effects throughout your entire life.
Motivation: Our Deepest Fear
Take inspiration from Marianne Williamson’s words in A Return to Love:
(Used by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 Inaugural Speech)
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
Use this as a reminder of the immense potential within you. You are capable of more than you may realise.
